How to Maintain Your Seiko Mod: A Maintenance Guide
Daily Maintenance
Strap cleaning: soak in warm soapy water, brush with a soft toothbrush, rinse, dry with microfiber. Sapphire crystal cleaning: use an optical microfiber cloth exclusively.
Water Resistance
Our Seiko Mods are water resistant to 100 meters: swimming and snorkeling OK ✅, scuba diving ❌. Never operate the crown underwater. Have seals checked every 2-3 years.
Movement Servicing
A Seiko NH35/NH36 movement only requires full servicing every 5 to 7 years. Cost: €60-100 at an independent watchmaker.
Signs Your Movement Needs Servicing
- Loss of accuracy greater than 30 seconds per day
- Repeated stopping despite correct winding
- Power reserve less than 20 hours
Storage
Store in a case away from direct light. Avoid excessive humidity and strong magnets.
